How Do I Find a Trustworthy Real Estate Agent in NE Ohio?

The Questions to Ask and the Red Flags to Watch For

This decision matters more than most buyers and sellers realize

Your real estate agent may be the most consequential professional you hire in any given transaction. They're guiding a $200,000, $400,000, or $700,000 decision. They're negotiating contracts on your behalf. They're advising you on complex legal and financial decisions.

Yet many buyers and sellers pick their agent casually — a friend's recommendation, the first result in a Google search, a TikTok video, or whoever they happened to meet at an open house. Here's a more thoughtful approach.

Look for genuine local expertise

Real estate is hyperlocal. An agent who works primarily in Cleveland's eastern suburbs may not have the deep knowledge needed to advise you well in Hudson or Aurora. An agent who focuses on luxury properties may not be the right fit for a first-time buyer in Stow.

Ask specifically: How many homes have you sold in this neighborhood in the last 12 months? What's your average days on market for listings? What's your list-to-sale price ratio? A good agent will have specific, honest answers to these questions.

Verify their track record

Online reviews on Google, Zillow, and Realtor.com provide a window into a real agent's real client experience. Look for consistency, specificity, and recency. Reviews that mention specific neighborhoods, situations, and outcomes are more meaningful than generic five-star endorsements.

Also ask for references — the names and contact information of two or three recent clients you can call directly. Any agent with confidence in their work should be happy to provide this.

Communication style matters enormously

The best market knowledge in the world means nothing if your agent doesn't keep you informed. Before signing anything, pay attention to: How quickly do they respond to your initial inquiry? Do they listen carefully and ask thoughtful questions about your situation? Are they direct and honest, or vague and evasive?

You'll be making major decisions together under sometimes stressful conditions. You need an agent whose communication style works for you.

My commitment to you

I've been serving buyers and sellers in Hudson, Stow, Streetsboro, Aurora, Twinsburg, Solon, and throughout Summit, Portage, and Geauga County since 2000. My business is built almost entirely on referrals from past clients — which I believe says more than any marketing material could.

I'd be honored to show you what 20+ years of NE Ohio real estate experience looks like in practice. Let's connect.
